The new way of working

One of the biggest shifts that companies are going through nowadays is the way that they evaluate performance. ‘Good work’ will no longer be measured by the number of hours you invest, the commitment, the mastered competencies nor getting through your entire ‘to-do list’. Employees and their managers will start to negotiate about areas of expertise and matching results. This shift will fundamentally turn control into support, responsibility and clear agreements. More than anything else, this session creates awareness amongst managers about the scope of this new way of working and teaches them how to make agreements that are result-oriented and how to organize follow-up.

Did you know that ‘Walt Disney’ visited over 302 financial institutions before he was finally granted a loan for his cartoon ‘The Happiest Place on Earth’? That kind of perseverance, that is true intrapreneurship! What is often the case today is that a lot of people in big companies are discouraged by a first or second ‘no’ from their manager, by obstacles on their path to realizing their idea, ...This session will activate the participants in an inspiring and confrontational manner: an entrepreneur is not something you are, it is something you do!

‘A better work/life balance’ doesn’t cover it when we ask our customers about the advantages of working from home. Because if it plays out well, it is so much more than just that: employees talk about how they feel more like an ‘adult’ partner of the company when trust replaces control, how they give more meaning to the occasional meetings, how they are more conscious when it comes to making appointments and reporting progress, … With the help of some practical tips and surprising insights, they are able to make homeworking a success not only for themselves, but for the company as well!

The ‘future of work’ is already a fact for most of our customers. This new way of working raises many new issues for managers as well: ‘How can I coach the employees of the outsourcing company we work with around our company values? How can I motivate people, knowing that we don’t have the means to fire ‘bad performers’ and reward ‘good performers’? How can I manage people while I’m actually their equal?’. These questions illustrate how much we are in need for a new kind of leadership. This session is about how to make the 3 shifts that are necessary for every team leader to hold one’s own in this evolution of ‘the new way of working’.

The scientific article ‘Can absence make a team grow stronger?’ confirmed what we already suspected: virtual teams are, despite the distance, often stronger than ‘face to face’ teams! What we have learned from talking to many managers is that they’d rather lead a virtual team than they would a ‘real team’! During this session, managers will learn how they can meet the potential of their virtual team, and what they can do to create a strong team spirit that goes far beyond just an online connection.

What would be the perfect balance between ‘work’ and ‘life’ for you? 50/50 percent? 60/40? … A strange question, don’t you think so?  Because you’re not looking for an unnatural ‘balance’. No, your aim is to experience satisfaction in your life, both professional and personal. This is what this session is all about: stop looking for the perfect balance – that doesn’t exist – but install small new habits into your life that make you feel more energetic and satisfied!
